Welcome to ToonDates, a dating application operated by Conspiracy Labs LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our mobile app, website, and related services (the "Service").

ToonDates is designed to encourage self-expression and privacy. You may upload real photos privately, and our AI generates toon-style images based on them. Toon images are used publicly on your profile. Original photos remain private unless you choose to share them directly with another user.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, data generated through your use of the Service, and limited information from third parties.

a) Account and Profile Data

Name, phone number or email, password or token.
Date of birth, age, gender, pronouns, language, interests, profile text and preferences.
Settings and in-app preferences.
Multiple "masks" (separate profiles, e.g. straight/gay/different gender presentation) linked internally to one account for technical and safety purposes.

b) Photos and AI-Generated Toons

Original uploaded photos (stored privately by default).
AI-generated toon images used on your public profile.
Optional verification photos/selfies and, if enabled, ID verification data.
Optional sensitive information (e.g. sexual orientation, gender identity, beliefs) that you choose to provide.

c) Communications and Media

Messages, images, audio, and video exchanged through the Service.
Message and call metadata such as timestamps and device information.
Content may be processed automatically and, in some cases, reviewed by authorized personnel for moderation, safety, abuse detection, troubleshooting, and legal compliance.

d) Device and Technical Information

Device type, model, operating system, app version, language.
IP address, identifiers such as advertising ID, and similar device or cookie identifiers.
Crash logs, performance data, and diagnostic information.

e) Location Data

Precise location data (such as GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) when you enable location permissions, to show nearby users and location-based features.
Approximate location (for example, city or region) when precise location is disabled, inferred from your IP or information you provide.
Location data may be used for fraud detection and safety.

f) Contacts and Social Data

If you choose to sign in or connect via third-party platforms (such as Apple, Google, Facebook, Instagram, Spotify), we receive limited data from them (for example: name, profile photo, email or playlists), as permitted by their settings.
If you choose to sync your contacts, we may process hashed identifiers from your address book to help identify potential connections (e.g. Friends of Friends).

g) Purchases

Details of purchases made in the app (product, price, date, and related technical data).
Payment processing is handled by app stores or payment processors; we do not store full payment card details on our servers.

h) Analytics, Ads, and Research

Information about how you use the Service, including screens viewed, features used, and interactions with content.
Participation in surveys, feedback forms, beta features, promotions, and contests.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

Provide and personalize the Service: create and manage accounts and masks, display profiles, generate toons, operate messaging and media features, and customize your experience.
Safety, integrity, and moderation: detect and prevent spam, scams, fraud, harassment, unauthorized use, underage use, and other violations of our Terms; verify accounts and identities; restrict or ban abusive users.
AI and machine learning: improve matching, recommendations, safety tools, and moderation systems. We may use de-identified or aggregated data for model training and service improvement, and where required by law rely on your consent or provide opt-out mechanisms.
Analytics and development: understand usage, improve performance, fix bugs, and test new features and designs.
Marketing and advertising: promote ToonDates on third-party platforms, measure campaign performance, and where allowed, show relevant ads or offers within the app.
Communications: send transactional messages (such as security alerts, changes to terms, feature updates), and, where permitted, marketing communications that you can opt out of.
Legal and compliance: comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful requests, enforce our Terms, and protect our rights, users, and the Service.

3. Legal Bases for Processing

Depending on your location, we process your information based on one or more of the following legal bases:

Contractual necessity — to provide and operate the Service you have requested.
Legitimate interests — including maintaining and improving the Service, ensuring safety and security, preventing abuse, and promoting ToonDates, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.

Social and sign-in partners: when you choose to log in with or connect your account to third-party platforms.

Other users: information you choose to share on your profile (toon images and public fields) or send in chats (including original photos) is visible to the recipients and may be copied or shared by them.
Aggregated and de-identified data: which does not identify you, may be used or shared for analytics, research, and service improvement.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy:

Account and profile data: kept while your account is active, and for a limited period (for example, up to 3 years) after deletion for safety, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
Verification and related safety data: retained for as long as needed for security and compliance, generally not longer than 3 years after last relevant activity, unless law requires otherwise.
Messages and media: kept while your account is active or as required for legitimate safety or legal reasons.
Backup copies: stored for limited periods and then overwritten in accordance with our backup policies.

6. Your Rights and Controls

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

You can manage many choices through in-app settings (where available), such as:

Updating profile information and masks.
Managing notifications and some privacy settings.
Enabling or disabling location permissions on your device.
Disconnecting linked social accounts.

We may request verification of your identity and will respond within a reasonable timeframe required by applicable law. We may retain certain information where necessary for legal obligations or safety (for example, to prevent re-registration by users banned for serious violations).
